Glass Express have reaped a wide range of benefits from implementing TomTom, including a marked increase in deliveries, improved office to driver communications and crucial safety information, a success for both drivers and business.
Glass Express is a specialist glass processing company who began trading in 1977 and provides services to the specialist joinery and the glazing trade. They deal with both commercial and private customers, supplying glass for offices, hotels, kitchens and bathrooms, as well as shop fitting and the like. They operate from 20,000 sq ft factory unit in Ashford, Kent and have a showroom in London. They have 35 staff working in the factory, offices and fitters.
Glass Express implemented a TomTom solution consisting of a LINK GPS tracking box with 10-second positioning, paired with a GO navigation device with 2-way messaging and LIVE services including TomTom's unique HD traffic. The system is capable of sending orders to the drivers, and accurate ETA's can be viewed on screen.
The main motivation to move to telematics was to increase communication between office and drivers and the two way messaging system has proved invaluable. Jobs are now allocated using the messaging service, which is less time consuming and received instantly, with read-receipts. Due to this flexibility and speed at which it is processed, Glass Express increased jobs performed each week from 30 to approaching 40.
